The Nike Sock Racer was developed for triathletes in the 1980s, delivering a bare-foot feel without compromising performance. The Swoosh resurrected the old racing shoe back in 2012 in the hopes of turning it into a lifestyle staple. We've seen Nike tweak both the sole and upper of the Sock Racer numerous times in past few years, and this time they've delivered a highly wearable Cobblestone and Black SE model.
The Sock Racer SE retains the sock-like construction of the 80s racer, with modernised Air cushioning in the heel for added comfort. Two adjustable forefoot straps lay across the textile upper, with mesh panels added for extra breathability. The understated colourway combines the second-skin feel of the original racer with a generous rubber midsole. The result is a shoe that's like a reinforced, weather-durable version of your favourite pair of socks.
The Sock Racer SE (Cobblestone/Black) is available now from select Nike retailers, including Kith.
