UPDATE: It's no surprise that the recent retro Nike Air Max BW 'Marina Blue' is a true treat for the feet, just to prove it we've got a few photos of the blue bee-dub in the wild. You can stomp the streets in your own pair right now, just jump across to Overkill and slap it on the plastic.
In 1991 Nike released the fourth model in their Air Max line, the Air Max BW (short for Big Window). Most sneakerheads are probably familiar with the Persian Violet colourway, one of the OGs that has been re-released five times since 91. A lesser-known OG colourway is the Marina Jade, which has not been re-released in the 25 years since the shoe's birth – leaving Air Max fiends itching for the drop. In 2013 there was some excitement when a few samples of the Marina surfaced but the shoe didn’t see production that year.
To help mark the 25th anniversary of the Air Max BW in 2016, Nike will finally be releasing the coveted Air Max BW OG in Marina Blue/Jade Green/White. The shoe looks true to the original with its blend of neoprene, mesh and suede across the upper and its big window air unit peeking through the side of the heel on the midsole – all the way down to the International logo on the insole. You can be sure Air Max heads will be snapping up multiples to keep themselves stocked for the years to come – make sure you stay sharp.
The Nike Air Max BW OG Marina hasn’t got a solid release date just yet but we’ll let you know as soon as it comes to light.
