Nike have been pushing Max hard over recent times, they've reworked the heritage range with all kinds of textile treatments. And now in tandem with the World Cup push the whole thing seems to have been an experiment leading up to one release – the Nike Air Max 97 Jacquard SP TZ 'Rio' edition. Yeah, OK that build up may be a bit dramatic, but this Max is absolutely ruling the silo in our opinion. A single piece jacquard upper with fused reinforcement – mimicking the original Air Max 97's tapered design – perforated leather lining and insoles, classic full-length Max down under, it's a nice situation, but the real killer part of this release is the colour story execution. Camo seems to have faded a little out of vogue recently, but over the past two years we've seen it flipped up a million and one different ways, so for Nike to pull out something so unique by blending multicolour embroidered weave-looking patterns into a traditional army digi-camo was tight. Each World Cup Nike have been leaving behind quirky reminders – many of which have been woven – and these AMs now join that rich and colourful heritage list. Better move quick. Look for these arriving at select Tier Zero Nike accounts including Hanon and Foot Patrol.
