The thought of a detatched aorta is enough to make even the toughest amongst us feel a little squeamish. Unfortunately for sufferer Jacob Burris, the rare affliction means every heartbeat is a struggle. In order to keep his heart pumping strong, the 14-year-old was fitted with a little something called a Dacron tube (Google it – but trust us, it ain't pretty!). This life-saving device has earned the courageous young basketballer the nickname of 'The Bionic Boy'. His design for the 2015 Doernbecher Freestyle Collection plays with this bionic theme, delivering us an Air Max 95 covered in reflective circuitry which, even sweeter, appears to glow like crazy under backlight. The red and blue colour scheme is inspired by Jacob's favourite superhero, Spider-Man (natch!). No doubt, the raddest touch on these comes from the most unlikely of places – the very bottom of the shoe. The outsoles are branded with the signature of Spider-Man creator, Stan Lee. These will be dropping November 21st in limited numbers at selected stateside Nike retailers and on Nike.com (10am EST). The shoes will be available in both mens and GS sizing, and will release alongside a matching hoodie and cap.
