The Nike Air Max 90 will be seeing greener pastures from here on out. Not in the metaphorical sense – it will literally be seeing pastures of green, because it's been chopped up into a golf shoe. Nike are reporting that the revision was driven by their golfer Rory McIlroy, who is quite fond of the shoe. 'I wear Air Max casually off the golf course all the time,' McIlroy said to Nike. 'Making it into a golf shoe really brings something new to the golf course'.
The Air Max 90 IT is visually captivating. It's like looking at a perfectly executed face swap; even though you understand all the elements involved and it looks great, there's something perturbing about it. In the case of this Air Max, what keeps you staring is probably the fact that it's missing the beloved air bubble. The 90's golf edition has opted instead for a Zoom Air sole unit, which has an Nike Integrated Traction outer sole in translucent blue.
The Nike Air Max 90 IT is available through Nike online from May 13.
