New York City's parks have been integral to the growth in popularity of Swoosh classics like the Air Force 1 over the years and Nike are returning the favour with a special nod to the New York City Department of Parks and Recreation.
The release comes in the form of a limited-edition AF-1, naturally – one that goes so far as to employ maps of the city on the insoles and the department's signature leaf logo throughout. As for the uppers, they appear in black with a combination of tumbled leather, breathable mesh, and scuff-resistant synthetic construction, not to mention woodgrain detailing on the heels. Other highlights include contrasting green stitching on the tongues, multicoloured outsole, and reflective strips that run down the tongues and atop the laces.
Stay tuned for release info, but expect a drop soon at select Nike Sportswear dealers.
