UPDATE: The Kith camera squad have lined the 'Linen' up to give us our first real detailed look at the upcoming Air Force 1 Retro. The colourway looks as crisp as it did in 2001 and it would appear that the Swoosh have pulled out the primo bovine to stretch across the upper. The release is exclusive to Kith's Miami store and will be raffled off on four separate days within two weeks after the store opens on December 2. Don't relax if you want the flax.
Originally released in 2001 as a Japan exclusive, the 'Linen' Air Force 1 has remained a coveted grail for many Force fiends. With the majority of OG pairs blowing out due to age, we here at Sneaker Freaker have been eagerly waiting for this icon of Air to receive the retro treatment. Well, our prayers have finally been answered via a post on Ronnie Fieg's Instagram account announcing that the rare colourway will be making its return 'this weekend'. Unfortunately, it seems this release won't be any easier to obtain than the original, with Fieg revealing that the retro will be a Kith global exclusive.
Strengthening the NYC connection, images posted to Nike employee Errol Andam's Instagram have revealed that the release has been produced in collaboration with graffiti god Futura. A special acrylic box has been produced to house the sneakers, decorated with Futura's signature atom graphic and tag. The box is rumoured to be limited to 50 units, and to be released exclusively through Kith's Art Basel Miami pop-up.
At this stage, it is confirmed that the Air Force 1 'Linen' will be releasing 'this weekend', exclusively through Kith. The specific date and time are yet to be announced, but keep your eyes open for further details – unless you want to wait another 15 years to add this pair to your collection!
