Back in 2004, Nike collaborated with NYC institution Dave's Quality Meat on one of their quirkiest big-bubble drops to date: the Air Max 90 'Bacon'. This meat-themed runner featured a colour combo inspired by the fleshy tones of cured pork.
We saw the signature shades return for a One Time Only Air Max 95 x 360 drop in 2006 and again on an Air Max 90 Current in 2009, but it has been some time since we had another 'Bacon' drop. That all looks set to change in the coming weeks, as a new Air Max 1 has just leaked bearing a distinct similarity to DQM's colab palette.
This new AM1 features an upper pigmented with browns, reds and pinks, but it's not just the colourway that sticks out. The new release takes a leaf out of Sean Wotherspoon's notebook and incorporates corduroy into its material mix. If that's not enough to make this release stand out, Nike have always equipped a crepe outsole down below.
No release details have been announced for the Nike Air Max 1 'Wheat Gold'/'Rust Pink'/'Baroque Brown', but we'll keep you posted!
