New Balance’s 997H is a contemporary update on the ultimate 99x classic. An evolution of the iconic 997, this revolutionary revamp comes through with a sleeker, more streamlined profile that’s sure to appeal to everyone from the die-hards to the NB newbies.
So, what does the ‘H’ stand for? The scientists from New Balance’s sneaker lab are keeping their cards close to their chest. However, based on our research, we can come to a solid ‘Hypothesis’.
On the flipside, there’s no guesswork when it comes to the 997H’s contemporary upgrades. In order to adapt the classic runner to palates of the modern sneaker fiend, the OG’s C-CAP/ENCAP-fused cushioning has been replaced with GCEVA and a progressive outsole profile. The result? A lighter, more responsive feel that’s perfect for navigating the urban jungle.
Dressed in the familiar NB grey, the upper is livened up with bright neon accents, highlighted with a vibrant ‘Dark Mango’ ‘N’ logo and teal detailing.
