The New Balance OMN1S has been one of the most elusive basketball sneakers going around, releasing in uber-limited drops since its debut at the start of the year. However, it looks like that’s all about to change, with the Boston brand giving the Kawhi Leonard signature an official launch.
Set to unleash in five new colourways in larger quantities, New Balance’s hardwood hero is also getting a special pop-up shop at Shoe Palace in LA, dubbed Kawhi’s Fun House.
The name OMN1S is derived from the Latin omnis, a word meaning ‘of everything’. And just like ‘The Klaw’, NB’s debut basketball sneaker was made for the modern day positionless player. A full-length FuelCell midsole unleashes the speed, while a 3D Ultra Heel construction and infused FitWeave upper team up for a long-lasting, locked-in fit.
‘As the game has changed, there is a versatility to the player on the court now that there has never been before. The OMN1S was built for a player like Kawhi Leonard that can do it all. It’s designed to represent what we want New Balance to represent on and off the court. Game speaks for itself,’ said Jonathan Grondin, Creative Design Manager at New Balance.
Kawhi’s Fun House will be open to the public from October 18 -20 at Shoe Palace’s Melrose Ave in LA. Fans will have the opportunity to purchase exclusive NB footwear and apparel at the event, while six player-exclusive OMN1S colourways will drop in limited quantities over the three days. Lookout for the ‘Best Kept Secret’, ‘Trust Leonard’, ‘Black Ice’, ‘Do Not Disturb’, ‘Distinct Beast’ and a special Los Angeles edition — good luck copping if you aren’t California bound, though.
Releasing on October 23, the first of five wider release OMN1S colourways — ‘Reign’ — will be available at New Balance. Stay tuned for more in the coming weeks!
