UPDATE: Now that is more like it! Pairs sitting right now at Sneaker Politics.
I was 15 when the whole Superstar 35th anniversary celebrations jumped off, and as a budding young sneakerhead, I frothed over whatever information I could find about the huge line up of Superstars as they dropped throughout the year. Thanks to the refinement of the hype machine and the explosion in sneaker collaborations, in the last ten years since, we've kinda forgotten how crazy the 35th anniversary campaign really was back then. The Neighborhood Superstar that was part of the ultra rare Consortium range has always been one of my grails, and I was over the moon when I caught wind of a homage dropping as part of this year's adidas Superstar push. Thanks to HighSnob, today I got a better look at the release that will be releasing this Friday. Staying true to the original 2004 design, Neighborhood has changed the upper material to embossed croc leather and tweaked the detailing in places like the heel tab and changed the shell-toe colour to match the midsole, making sure the beautiful simplicity of the first Neighborhood Consortium effort is retained.
