Inspired by the classic adiStar he wore during the iconic ‘Back Worlds of Words’ performance in 1998, the Aloha Super is skateboarding legend Mark Gonzales’s latest signature sneaker.
‘Back Worlds of Words’ was a conceptual art piece, which saw Gonzales skating through unique obstacles in Städtisches Museum, Germany, while wearing a fencing suit and adiStar Fencing sneakers. Now, 20 years on, adidas Skateboarding and Gonz have recreated it for the Showcase X event — and they’ve debuted the Aloha Super in celebration.
With its muted tones on the upper, the shoe uses a nubuck and leather combination for increased durability. Further ruggedness is provided via a reinforced heel and eyestays, as well as a leather tongue. Down below, a rubber outsole brings plenty of boardfeel and traction.
The adidas Skateboarding Aloha Super hits select retailers on August 18 for $90 USD.
