Industrial designer Marc Newson recently took a break from aerospace and luxury product design to create a radical new Air VaporMax. Like his Zvesdochka from a few years back, the sneaker features in-your-face functionality that you can’t help but stare at. Now, Newson has described the process that led him to the technological design, which wasn't informed by the space-age type tech you may expect.
Newson says that his moccasin like VaporMax came from the trying to add materials that you might associate with an ‘agricultural’ type product, like leather and basic stitching. He also talks about the knit build being something he finds joy in because it’s still, in essence, something your grandma used to do.
