UPDATE: These bad boys are set for a worldwide release from December 20.
UPDATE: The guys at Limiteditions have sent us more photos of their upcoming release with Puma, and with these new photos we can definitely confirm that they're using (our personal favourite) Puma's Blaze of Glory for their 'Panellets' collaboration. In Spain, Catalan tradition celebrates Castanyada during All Saints' Day, with origins that also relate back to a festive celebration of the dead. As part of the tradition, a feast of panellets, chestnuts, sweet potato and preserved fruits is held, and for better insight into the roots of this ritual, we turned to our trusty friend Wikipedia:
It seems that the tradition of eating these foods comes from the fact that during All Saints' night, the night before All Souls' Day in the Christian tradition, bell ringers would ring bells in commemoration of the dead into the early morning. Friends and relatives would help with this task, and everyone would eat these foods for sustenance.
Limiteditions have used those awesome little baked desserts Panellets as the inspiration for the colourway of this Blaze of Glory. With the upper predominately baked in a buttery beige to represent the marzipan base, with colourful hits of green and red on the reinforced eyelets reference the fruits baked into the panellets.
Although this sneaker won't be released until the 1st of November, you can now pre-order the Blaze of Glory Panellet here.
