Tongues are wagging among NBA analysts right now as everyone scrambles to predict LeBron James' movements next season. Will the King move onto greener pastures, will he stay with his flailing Cleveland squad, or – god forbid – will he join the Warriors super-team?!
As we all question James' ties to the currently lacklustre Cavaliers, the small forward has responded with the LeBron 15 'Pride of Ohio'. The latest iteration of his signature Nike shoe pays tribute to the midwestern state with its '216' area code embossed inside the deep red leather inner tongue tabs. LeBron's signature is scribbled across the heel tabs while his logo and 'XV' detailing on the tongue strap give the 15 the King's regal touch.
Other than the addition of taupe on the midsole and ankle sock, the shoe's black Flyknit upper suggests that this is a rejigged version of the earlier released 'Ashes' colourway.
Is the release of the 'Pride of Ohio' 15 a sign of LeBron's enduring commitment to the Cavs? Or is the King simply paying tribute to his birth town of Akron, Ohio? We'll have to wait 'til next year to see where James' loyalty truly lies. In the meantime, Cleveland fans ought to net these 15s and pray that their star player loves them as much as they love him.
