UPDATE: Not only do we finally have some more pictures of the Kobe A.D. 'Compton', but an official drop date as well! The sneaker is directly inspired by DeRozan's favourite memory – watching Kobe Bryant's '97 'airball game' in the playoffs against Utah – where DeRozan learnt that resilience in the face of adversity is the key to success on court.  The exact date of the game –  'May 12, 1997' – is emblazoned on the lace tips of the sneaker. In another personal detail, the insole is printed with a picture of DeRozan's home street in Compton.

The Nike Kobe A.D. 'Compton' will release on April 12 at SNKRS.

It turns out being a massive Kobe fan can have its perks. Toronto Raptors shooting guard DeMar DeRozan never hits the court without his trusty Kobes, and now that dedication to the Mamba is being honoured with a special make-up of the Kobe A.D. The NBA All-Star has received his own PEs in the past, but finally we've got one that's headed to retail. The shoe features a patterned white and grey upper, with marbling at the heel and bright tri-colour sheath logo on the tongue. With DeRozan born in SoCal, this shoe honours his roots with 'City of Compton' featured on the insole. The make-up is finished off with a grey Swoosh and clear outsole.

The Nike Kobe A.D. 'Compton' is set to release in April through NDC and select Nike Basketball stockists. We'll hit you back with an exact date!
