The latest project for Kicks Lab sees them team up with ASICS for the GEL-Lyte III ‘Hikeshi Hanten’. The name refers to a traditional Japanese fireman’s coat, woven from heavy cotton soaked in water to shield from the heat of a fire. They’re typically coloured with traditional red and blue pigments and feature resist dyed motifs, unique to each district.
The new GEL-Lyte III uses the colour scheme to build up the leather, suede and cotton upper – while the split tongue is a reminder of the mottos that were often embroidered down the lapels of the coats. Sneakerwolf has designed the artwork on the outsole and insole, to finish off a well executed concept.
The Kicks Lab x ASICS GEL-Lyte III ‘Hikeshi Hanten’ will be available from December 10 through Kicks Lab.
