Kevin Durant Responds To 'Cupcake' Taunts With New Shoe
Oklahoma City Thunder fans have been battering Kevin Durant with 'cupcake' taunts since he moved on to the Golden State Warriors last year. For those not in the know, 'cupcake' is an insult coined by Thunder players to refer to those who are soft or who will easily fall apart. The 'cupcake' label stuck to Durant when posted an IG image of a cupcake on the day of KD's trade; it was also chanted loudly by the crowd when KD re-entered Chesapeake Energy Arena as a Warrior. However, Durant's determined to get the last laugh. Winning the Finals' MVP wasn't enough for the Slim Reaper: now he's using his signature shoe line to exact his revenge.
Nike have announced the latest make-up of the KD 10 and it's getting served up in a 'Red Velvet' colourway. Just in case the name didn't make the Swoosh's intentions clear enough, they also positioned the shoe among some scrumptious red velvet cupcakes in the promo shots. Nike claim that the Red Velvet colourway celebrates KD's 'undying quest for sweet taste of victory'; indeed, according to the press release he's a player who's 'always ready to cook his next victim'.
'At the end of the day, winning is all that matters,' the Swoosh added, 'and anything else is just icing on the cake.'
