After his Vandal colab sold out in minutes, John Elliott has collaborated with Nike again and debuted their latest creation at ComplexCon. This time, the designer was tasked with redesigning the Air Force 1 to celebrate the silhouette’s 35th anniversary.
With seemingly endless AF-1s releasing this year, it takes a lot to get us excited, but these stand out for their simplicity. Nike stipulated the design could only use the classic AF-1 white on white, so texture and shadow are the name of the game. The panels, lace keepers and aglets have all been doubled-up for depth, and the pebbled leather Swoosh has been die-cut from the side of the shoe.
It is a cruel irony that the coolest releases always seem to be Friends and Family, so sorry, these ain't for you (or us).
