Unassailable Taiwanese retailer hooks up with New Balance again, this time to collaborate on the MRL996. The MRL 996 is like a slightly posher, more modern re-up of the , with REVlite cushioning, and this particular rendition also comes with wingtip-ish details on the toebox, 3M reflective eyelets and logos, and a premium suede build. This is a retailer collaboration, so you know there's some quirky 'sneaker storytelling' at play; the inspiration here is a famous horse race that hands a mega stack of cash to the winner, and the thousands of attendees who also like to flaunt their own bank balances by dressing lavishly, and this sophisticated gentlemen's sneaker is somewhat of an attempt to enter that lofty dress code. An insole with a horse race print brings it all home for peeps who like their colab connections obvious.
