Since 2010, the crew from Up There Store have been keeping Aussie heads laced with the finest footwear and the slickest sartorial selections from around the globe. Their latest project sees them join forces with Saucony on a carefully crafted GRID 8000.
The design draws from ‘Sashiko', a traditional Japanese stitching technique. Born of necessity, the technique was adopted by poor farming families to reinforce and patch up worn-out fabric.
Since then the bold patterning has evolved to take on a much more decorative nature. This functional embroidery is typically seen in white thread over indigo dyed fabric; the toe and quarter sections of the collaborative sneaker serve as a solid example.
The remainder of the upper has been laid down in super-soft indigo leather with aged dual-branded tongue tags. From the metal-tipped waxed laces to the custom packaging and plush leather lining, every element of this release has been executed with the highest regard for quality.
The blend of traditional aesthetics and heritage style work together to form a truly harmonious collaboration, which will no doubt stand the tests of time.
The Up There Store x Saucony GRID 8000 ‘Sashiko’ will be available from Up There Store on February 16, before selected stockists around the world will release the colab on February 23.
