Following the usual progression of any newly introduced tech, Nike have taken their recently unveiled React running sole and given it a dressing down. Although the Flyknit upper, as seen on the original Epic React, might represent the ultimate in style and functionality, it’s necessary to present to people with something more basic – thus, the Legend React is born. It’s not often that a shoe can step back from the cutting edge of technology and still retain its top-tier appeal and this new design is no exception.
OK, so they are two completely different shoes, and perhaps shouldn’t be put up for such a critical comparison – no doubt the Legend still feels like a dream on-foot. With a slimmer sole, greater forefoot drop and lack of embedded heel stabiliser, the Legend will probably be targeted more towards a lifestyle consumer than a performance athlete. It could even be a kid’s shoe, only time will tell.
There isn’t any release info available for the Nike Legend React; we’ll keep you posted.
