We already know that Nike put a crazy amount of R&D into the Zoom VaporFly Elite marathon running shoe. Now that the Swoosh are touting a new Street version that looks more or less identical to the performance design, it begs the question: how does the cutting-edge runner actually translate into a daily jogger?
Aside from the craziness that was built into the sole of the original runner, the upper was also engineered on a microscopic level to provide perfect fit and top-tier comfort. In producing the pure performance style, the team uncovered a whole new aesthetic that enabled the shoe’s appeal to spread.
The opportunity was obvious, so Nike decided to offer the general consumer a new version of the VaporFly that would utilise the same Flyknit upper and visual styling, but would be appropriate for everyday wear.
