We already know that put a crazy amount of R&D into the Zoom Elite marathon running shoe. Now that the Swoosh are touting a new Street version that looks more or less identical to the performance design, it begs the question: how does the cutting-edge runner actually translate into a daily jogger?

Aside from the craziness that was built into the sole of the original runner, the upper was also engineered on a microscopic level to provide perfect fit and top-tier comfort. In producing the pure performance style, the team uncovered a whole new aesthetic that enabled the shoe’s appeal to spread.

The opportunity was obvious, so Nike decided to offer the general consumer a new version of the VaporFly that would utilise the same Flyknit upper and visual styling, but would be appropriate for everyday wear.

The big difference between this and the distance running design? The sole. Though it’s sculpted to look much the same, the Vapor Street possesses a sole made entirely of the brand’s new . By ditching the carbon fibre , the result is a much more flexible design with the added bonus of Nike’s premier new cushioning foam. You might not smash world records in the new React Vapor Street, but don’t be surprised if you catch a PB.

The Nike Vapor Street will be available on February 23 from select stockists, including online from Nike.
