UPDATE: Pick up the colab from our Perth buddies today.

Perth's sneaker retail and design powerhouse, reunite with ASICS, this time working on the . It's a military-inspired colour combo, and they've dubbed it the 'MEDIC', and shot some pretty incredible images to show it in action. Firstly, though, it's time for a history lesson. In international wars following colonisation, Australia has been something of a serial ally. Aussies don't like to start a ruckus, but if their buddies are feeling hot-headed or are putting the dukes up to defend themselves, Australia will usually jump in for the throw down. Consequently, there aren't a whole lot of tactical masterminds who led and won momentous, world-defining battles, because the Aussies were typically dropped on the front lines to bring the brawn. That may be why two of Australian's most revered war heroes were actually medics. Weary Dunlop and John Simpson Kirkpatrick (the dude who rolled deep with a squad of donkeys) are ANZAC legends, and they saved countless lives with their clever treatment techniques and bravery. Or maybe Aussies just like their heroes to be lovers, not fighters. Whether this history has any direct influence on Highs & Lows choosing military medic uniforms as their muse for this GL V is anyone's guess, but hey... cool story anyway, bro.

HAL employ black garment leather on the MEDIC upper, in concert with perforated olive suede, while hot hits of red and white shout out the medical cross. 3M flexes across the Tiger stripes and a tonal splatter print on the neoprene tongue recalls army netting. Glow-in-the-dark soles finish 'em off, making sure these sneaks are equipped with safeness and swaginess in equal portion.

All pairs of the Highs & Lows x Gel Lyte V 'MEDIC' come with ankle socks when picked up in Australia, either from HAL direct in-store or online this Saturday, May 16, or from wider Oz stockists on May 23. June 6 is D-Day for these globally.
