Bremen-based sneaker hub Glückstreter show support to their beloved Bundesliga football club Werder Bremen, collaborating with Umbro for a limited-edition Neptune WB colourway.
‘We’re proud to be releasing a sneaker that brings the spirit and pride of one of Germany’s biggest football clubs to the streets – literally,’ says Umbro.
‘SV Werder Bremen, with its solar-powered riverside WOHNINVEST Weserstadion and vibrant, welcoming atmosphere, is a club that stands on twin principles of loyalty to the club, and constant development. So, when Glückstreter, a concept store in the city’s most vibrant district, approached us with the idea to collaborate on what would become our first ever street-style sneaker with a football club, it didn’t seem all that crazy.’
The Umbro Neptune is one of the brand’s most revered 90s silhouettes, reissued as part of our Archive Research Project. The WB edition is elevated with the addition of a perforated leather upper, replacing the traditional mesh for increased weather resistance – fitting, considering the all-terrain heritage of the OG. The chunky sole unit is retained, with green accents on the rear and upper heel, while the heel tab features a green and white-webbed double-diamond pattern.
The tongue is embroidered with Werder Bremen’s crest on the front, with the words ‘TRUE LOVE’ featuring on the inside of the tongue (taken from the store’s motto ‘Shoe Love is True Love’). And, last but not least, each pair comes with four different lace designs, each paying homage to different aspects of Werder Bremen’s history.
Limited to 350 pairs, the Neptune WB is available from December 7 at Umbro Germany and exclusively in-store at Glückstreter and Werder Bremen’s Fanwelt in the WOHNINVEST Weserstadion.
