Nike have made the legendary Air Force 1 even greater by imbuing their latest React cushioning tech into the heritage baller. At first sight, the update appears merely mildly cosmetic, but beneath the surface it’s a radical remake.
The AF-1’s guts have been scooped out, shedding tons of weight from the previously rubber and foam midsole. A new deep insole has been dropped in place, completely made from React foam with a generous Air pod at the heel. Pliable, lightweight and comfortable, foot fatigue is now a thing of the past.
The outsides get a little nip-tuck too, peeling back the mid panel to reveal breathable mesh beneath. Below, the proven concentric circle tread pattern is retained, but redone with more definition for extra grip and less weight. For the product nerds, there are little details like React’s wavy texture taking over the OG star pattern at the toe and heel outsole areas.
