Nike’s new Air Vapormax is being hailed as the pinnacle of Air technology, the zenith of a 30-year journey in revolutionary sneaker technology. When Tinker Hatfield’s Air Max 1 released in 1987, who could have imagined it would lead to a shoe like this?
The new Nike Vapormax is the most advanced Air offering to date, with targeted sections of Air and a complete absence of foam or any superfluous support structure to bulk up the midsole. By shedding a separate outsole, the new design is lighter and more flexible than previous versions, while the direct placement of the upper onto the Air unit offers superior response.
It all comes as a result of new technology that allows Nike to produce a self-supporting, stand-alone Air sole. Previous iterations have required extra support, whereas the new design can maintain its own form with just enough elasticity to cushion your foot – while tough TPU lugs can be directly integrated for traction and durability. The sectioned air bags hold more air than ever before, allowing each zone to be precisely engineered to give dynamic support as required by the foot.
Looking up from the ground-breaking Air tech, the highly engineered Flyknit upper provides an unparalleled fit with precise areas of stretch and support – literally built into the fabric of the shoe. An advanced Flywire lacing system locks the foot in, maximising the increased response and explosive energy offered by the Vapormax sole.
The Nike Air Vapormax is set to release on March 26, as part of Nike’s 2017 Air Max Day celebrations, don’t miss your chance to own a part of Air history.
