Revolving around the central notions of ‘Form’, ‘Fit’ and ‘Function’, the three new models by Converse reinvigorate one of the brand’s most esteemed silhouettes. Dubbed the All Star Disrupt CX, Chuck Taylor Disrupt CX and Chuck Taylor All Star CX, the Massachusetts-based label are taking cues from their 100-year history to reinterpret an undisputed icon: the Chuck Taylor.
‘We’ve always been a progressive brand, but as we enter a new decade we see an incredible opportunity to push the boundaries of our own design and product ethos,’ says Phil Russo, Global VP, Design & Innovation at Converse. ‘How can we really show up for our consumers with products that reflect their physical and emotional needs? For us, that question has never been more vital.’
Material innovation is fundamental to the Converse CX line, the CX stretch canvas, CX foam, and all new outsoles built to increase durability, impact absorption, and comfortability.
Our favourite of the bunch? A collaboration between Japanese label TAKAHIROMIYASHITATheSoloist and the All Star Disrupt CX debuted during Takahiro Miyashita’s SP20 show in Paris. The TAKAHIROMIYASHITATheSoloist colab lands on March 12. The rest of the CX collection follows-up on March 19.
