Converse’s modus operandi has always involved looking to the future without forgetting their past; continually adding technological advancements to their models without infringing on the storied status they enjoy as an almost century old product.
The newest innovation is the Pro OP ‘Ben G’ adaption of the Chuck Taylor All Star. The shoe is the result of a collaboration between Converse and Dutch skate store Ben G, and pays homage to Benny Komala – the store’s co-founder. Komala’s personal touch can be found on the tongue where a tattoo he has on his index finger, that he calls ‘sad eyes’, is represented with two dashes and a single tear. Of course, Converse couldn’t do a collaboration with a skate store and not make the sneaker skate-able, which is why this Chuck Taylor All Star Pro has rubber overlays on the lateral forefoot that act as ollie patches. The upper is made from durable premium leather and the insole is made from Lunarlon to afford a comfortable ride.
The Converse All Star Pro OP Ben G is available now in limited quantities exclusively from Beyond Skate, Fast Times, Precinct and UPS.
