UPDATE: A fresh set of Air VaporMax images is leading many to believe that Nike's heroically bubbled runner will be returning to shelves. And, as March is peak Air season, the theory might indeed have some weight. We've yet to get the official nod from Nike, but it would be a good idea to make sure your pockets are extra prepared come March 26 – just in case.
UPDATE: Nike have been going all out for New York Fashion Week, hitting us with an onslaught of surprise drops in collaboration with the likes of Riccardo Tisci, VLONE and ACRONYM. Now, with fresh images of the Nike Air VaporMax starting to circulate, COMME des GARÇONS are swooping in out of the blue to deliver the knockout blow – the release of the Japanee label's take on the aggressively segmented big bubble Max. According to Sneakernews, the high-fashion colab – and first ever release for the new silhouette – is set to release on February 10.
We are still awaiting further details on this rumoured release, but make sure you are poised to cop – just in case!
COMME des GARÇONS designer Rei Kawakubo has put her striking modernist brush to the new Nike VaporMax. The result is a duo of stark Flyknit socks sitting atop the bulging, high-tech air units below, one in all black and the other all white. The dual branded shoe features a strip of webbing running above the Swoosh with the COMME des GARÇONS logo printed across it, while the remainder has the Nike branding in all the right places. In true Kawakubo style, the monochromatic slip-on runners have been designed with absolute precision.
The COMME des GARÇONS x Nike VaporMax will be available early 2017, which should give you just enough time to formulate a game plan as to how you’ll score what will likely to be one of the most hyped drops of the season.
