The giant ‘Air’ branding on Nike’s More Uptempo was a stroke of genius. It made the 90s baller one of the most recognisable shoes of the decade, not to mention one of the most popular in recent years.
The latest appearance of the overblown logo, on the side of Nike’s new Airquent, takes the signature 90s look and applies it to a shoe that's 2018 through-and-through. The Swoosh's new sneakersock comes with a heavy dash of on-trend minimalism (well, as minimal as a shoe with giant branding can be) and an Air unit that takes its cues from the big bubbles of today. We must admit, at first sight it looks pretty bizarre — but it might grow on us, as so many weird and wacky sneakers do these days.
So far, we’ve only seen a burgundy version, but word is they’ll be dropping in black as well in October.
