Bait have worked with a diverse array of sneaker brands this year to churn out a bundle of beautiful colab efforts and now they welcome Saucony back to the party. This 'Cruel World' colab on the OG Shadow silhouette channels a concept popular with suits who want their dress shoes to come with a conscience – it's an all-vegan shoe. The avoidance of animal-based materials is not something we see very frequently in the sneaker industry, but we welcome unique ideas, as long as they can still forge a dope shoe. We think Bait and Saucony may have been able to strike the balance here, the navy and cream colourway is tight, it's got that hipster old man steez, and comes loaded with no-moo-moo materials like canvas panels, vegan suede overlays, hemp accents, cork insoles, and a speckled vegan outsole. Even the glue is vegan; no trips to the knackery on this one! Tongue tagging and insoles bear crossed-out skull graphics and certifications that no animals were harmed to create these sneaks – the package makes us feel a bit icky about regular sneakers now. Hmmm, how will Bait come back from this on their next colab? If you go this far to denounce a production process and call it 'Cruel World', can you come back and participate in it again? Maybe Bait are fully vegan from here on in. They've definitely got their heart in the right place, a portion of proceeds from this colab will go to A Place Called Home, a non-profit youth center in South Central, Los Angeles. You can reserve your piece of this colab sneak pie on November 24 right here. The shoes will be available for in-store picks and deliveries starting December 2.
