UPDATE: The ASICS 'Selvedge Denim' Collection brought us a trio of classic GEL runners wrapped in traditional Okayama selvedge denim. Now, a fourth make-up has emerged embracing the tough textile. Catering to those who avoid white fabrics like the plague – lest they become stained with the telltale signs of a messy night out – ASICS bring us a dark denim make-up of the GEL-Lyte III. The upper is constructed from black selvedge denim and equipped with matching black leather Tiger stripes outlined in white.
This dark addition to the ASICS 'Selvedge Denim' Collection is scheduled for release August 27 at select stockists, including Titolo.
Japanese running shoe manufacturer ASICS bring us the new ‘Selvedge Denim’ collection – beaming with pride from the land of the rising sun. The premium denim seen throughout the pack is produced in Japan’s Okayama prefecture, revered as the denim capital of Japan, and neighbouring the Hyōgo prefecture in which Onitsuka Co. was founded in 1949.
A white denim Gel-Lyte III features copper coloured eyelets, in reference to the rivets that are iconic to the construction of the denim jean. A black denim Gel-Lyte V features a selvedge line on the side showing the characteristic most associated with Japan’s premium denim industry. Of course, it wouldn't be a denim pack without a bit of indigo – the Gel-Sight fills the requirement as it echoes the ubiquitous blue-jean that's beloved globally.
