When we think ASICS, running is definitely the first category that comes to mind. But when the company first began over 60 years ago, their original agenda was actually basketball. In 1992 Detoit Pistons' star point guard Isiah Thomas who was signed to ASICS at the time, launched his first signature shoe, the ASICS Gel-Spotlyte. Revolutionary for it's nibble stance compared to traditional higher-cut and bulkier basketball silhouettes, the Gel-Spotlyte marked a new generation of footwear for the faster and zippier point guard player. Now some 22 years later ASICS have decided to resurrect Thomas' 1992 signature sneak in two fresh colourways. You can catch them hitting retail shelves globally right now including Hype DC in Australia.
