Neophytes might think ASICS' Gel series starts and stops with the ever-popular Gel Lyte III, but there's plenty more deep heat left in the ASICS archive. Released in 1993, the Gel Lyte V is a lighter, brighter runner with a squishier sole unit and a one-piece stretch-and-fit bootie that replaces the III's notorious split tongue. Overall, the V's panelling offers a fairly conventional approach, but there's no denying this is a clear progression into mid-90s territory. The minty green, purple and white OG model is a helluva fine place to start the fresh roll-out of this ever fresh ASICS classic, so stay tuned for release info. This bring back ASICS Gel Lyte V was originally featured in Sneaker Freaker issue 27.
