It's rare for a retro revamp to live up to the quality of the OG, so to go one better and top the original is almost unheard. Yet Concepts managed to pull off this seemingly impossible feat with the surprise return of their 2011 New Balance 999 'Kennedy' collaboration.
Dubbed 'Hyannis' in recognition of the sailing heritage of the Cape Cod village of the same name, the coveted colab was given the illustrious Made in USA treatment for its grand return – meaning higher quality and more premium materials than ever before. One slight change was made – the OG's ripstop heels were replaced with etched suede – but there is no denying 2017's release is a much finer vessel.
Alongside the original, Concepts also chose to release an alternate colourway for the first time. Sampled all the way back in 2011 in the creation of the 'Kennedy', the unreleased colour scheme switches out red for blue.
First released at ComplexCon, both colourways of the Concepts x New Balance 999 'Hyannis' will enjoy a proper release through the Concepts webstore on November 16 at 11am EST. Don't miss out!
