Updating their popular Oversized sneaker, McQueen’s latest runner boasts a rocking-horse-like sole and uppers of suede and mesh. Oh and a very familiar red mudguard...
Tinker Hatfield on the birth of the Air Max 1: ‘I didn’t think it was cool enough, so I decided to run that red tip all the way round the shoe. It’s what we call the ‘rand’, the bright red band that wraps around the shoe, which basically became a visual metaphor for ‘Look at me, I’m red!’
If only this Air Max 1-inspired Alexander McQueen shoe was also inspired by the AM1's price... but alas, the similarities stop at the rand.
Available in red, and navy, the new McQueens can be found over at the fashion house's online store.
