Air Max Day is right around the corner and 2017's celebration of Air Max looks like it's going to be the best year yet. Nike have come out and revealed an extensive list of shoe releases leading up to the big day, which features more than a few must-cop drops – both retro and modern.
With 2017 marking thirty years since the Air Max 1 first hit shelves, Tinker Hatfield's legendary big bubble design is the star of this year's line-up and is being treated to four separate releases. First up, we have the AM1 in classic red, white and grey. While we have seen many retros of this Air Max staple of the years, 2017's release might just be the best. Nike are bringing the shoe back with OG packaging and, best of all, with the iconic original shape. Shifting things to 2017, Nike also bring us a modern Ultra 2.0 iteration of the shoe – with a cored-out midsole, fused panels and '3.26' on the tongue.
Undoubtedly the most anticipated shoe of the entire collection, the Nike x atmos Air Max 1 'Elephant' is receiving retro honours after being voted for a comeback during last year's festivities. In a consolidation of grails, Nike also bring us a new AM1 nicknamed the 'Master'. The predominately black sneaker features a multi-layered mudguard in homage to some of the most coveted AM1s of all-time, including Patta's 'Chlorophyll' colab and the atmos 'Animal Pack'.
On the modern end of the spectrum, Air Max Day also marks the official debut of the Air VaporMax. The segmented Max will release in a pure white 'Platinum' make-up. Nike will also debut the Air Max Jewell – the second ever women's-only Air Max. The model is said to be inspired by the Air Max Plus.
Air Max Day is scheduled for March 26. The Air Max 90 Ultra Flyknit 'Infrared' will be available March 2 and the Air Max Jewell will release on March 8. Stay tuned for full release details on the other Air Max Day releases.
