Update: Hitting retail stores including Sneaker Politics this month, Saturday the 26th.
Not satisfied with obliterating the competition in the retro basketball realm, can Jordan Brand take over the luxury market? There have been grainy photos of this new model knocking about for a while, but we’ve finally got some decent beauty shots as the retail release nears. Jordanheads aren’t strangers to shoes worth over $400 at resale pricing, but this one is making headlines because it’s retailing at that hefty price tag. It’s Jordan Brand’s foray into the luxury lifestyle market – it’s actually low-end luxury when compared to releases by brands like Buscemi and Maison Martin Margiela – and we see the first edition completely blocked out in red. That’s means red sole, red laces, red leather upper with red weave pattern. There’s obvious comparisons to make here, but it will be interesting to see how this one flies – is red dead yet? The Air Jordan Shine is confirmed to drop at Barney’s soon, in red and black colourways, and we’ll bring you the release date when it’s confirmed.
