UPDATE: The luxurious leather Jordan 5 Premium 'Triple Black' is laying in wait over on Nike's web store. As anticipated, the price tag is up there at a heavy $400 USD, but with the shoe's high standards, you'll get what you pay for. They drop on July 8, so start squirrelling away that chore money.
After an almost overwhelming onslaught of retro releases in 2016, the Air Jordan 5 has largely been absent from shelves in 2017. Indeed, the only AJ5 make-ups to hit retailers this year so far have been a duo of limited 'Take Flight' releases – though the scarcity of drops hasn't been a such a bad thing. Favouring quality over quantity, both Take Flight colourways were made with the most decadent construction to ever hit Michael Jordan's 1990 signature sneaker.
Continuing with the premium focus, we can expect another high-grade AJ5 to see release in the coming months. As these leaked images show, a 'Triple Black' make-up is on the way. Made from top-shelf leather– right down to the wrapped midsole – and featuring a triangular 'Flight' lace tag, this release looks to follow in line with the aforementioned Take Flight builds. Like those, this Triple Black release puts its own unique spin on the AJ5's iconic rubber mesh underlays and tongue, embracing ribbed leather on both this time around.
While official details are yet to be announced, the inside word is that these will be dropping this July. Expect them to be sold only through top-tier Jordan Brand stockists with premium price tag to match their exceptional quality.
