UPDATE: Ahead of its May 28 release, new images of the Air Jordan 12 'Flu Game' have surfaced and they show the shoe in great detail. The shoe's impressive leather grain only looks better in the wild – and OG stans will be stoked to see that it will come in a period-correct box, too.
UPDATE: The reality is starting to sink in – the 'Flu Game' Air Jordan 12 will finally be returning to stores before the month is through. It's been 13 long years since we last saw the black and 'Varsity Red' Air Jordan 12 on shelves in true OG form and, as the official Nike images above show, 2016's 'Remastered' release is seriously looking the business – check out the grain on that premium leather!
The Air Jordan 12 'Flu Game' will be available May 28th through Nike.com and Jordan Brand stockists worldwide.
Michel Jordan showcased many superhuman feats of strength throughout his career, but his most memorable mind-over-matter achievement is surely the 'Flu Game'. In 1997 , MJ and his raging bulls lined up against the Utah Jazz in the Finals. The night before Game 5, MJ chowed down on a cheesy pizza that was probably contaminated (perhaps by a Jazz-lovin' chef?) and couldn't get any shut eye because he was sweating hot salami all night. He vowed to fight on through the game, and this AJ12 was the red rag that the big Bull slipped on his hooves. His Airness put in a divine performance, complete with 'Oh, look at me, bruh, I really am really sick, how good am I to still be this good?' theatrics. It was a brilliant narrative and sporting spectacle. Rightfully, the shoe holds a prime position in the pantheon of Jordan Brand and every re-release of the silhouette is greeted with mucho fanfare. We last saw it on shelves in 2009, and the nubuck body of that release has been subbed out in favour of an OG-steez leather build, so we're doubting many heads will sleep on these. Pics via J23.
The Air Jordan 12 'Flu Game' will drop at Jordan Brand retailers on May 28.
