UPDATE: With the Olympic Games well underway, it's time to take a closer look at this podium-worthy trio. Each colourway is worthy of acclaim but it is the gold make-up, with its genuine leather Three Stripes, that truly takes top prize.

The top-tier colllection will be available August 17 through select adidas Originals accounts globally, including  Livestock.

UPDATE: We suspected an August release was likely for these lustrous kicks and now it seems our sneaker-sense was right on the money. With the commencement of the Rio 2016 Summer Olympic Games just days away, UK retailer END have unleashed a fresh set of images confirming the imminent arrival of the metalled Ultra Boost pack. As expected, the gold and silver duet has expanded to a trio with a bronze make-up, but there are no duds here – every shoe in this pack is a winner!

The adidas Ultra Boost 'Metallic' Pack does not have a release date locked down, but you can expect a release very, very soon through select adidas Originals retailers, including END.

Do these pictures mean adidas is releasing an Olympics-inspired pack? Considering the proximity to Rio 2016 – and these pics from Kaiweikaiwei – it certainly looks like it. The images show two Ultra Boosts with their heel counters armoured up with two podium colours. One has a silver counter, and the other a gold, meaning the only thing stopping the confirmation of Olympic affiliation is a bronze edition, and the Olympics' ridiculously stern trademarking laws.

The Ultra Boost (supposed) 'Medals Pack' doesn't have a release date just yet, but August would be a safe bet.
