We first caught glimpse of this peculiar silhouette during the adidas Tubular 2016 preview back in July that also introduced us to the striking Defiant model that has been on shelves since November, but until now the details have been scarce for this Yeezy-influenced Tubular spin-off. While there hasn't been any official announcement from adidas just yet, German retailer Inflammable have listed this sock-like model on their online store as the Tubular Doom. While the midsole tooling unmistakably echoes aesthetics from Kanye's wildly successful series of adidas collaborations, the upper is constructed with Primeknit with elastic midfoot straps and cage overlays that takes cues from Y-3 designs, most notably the Qasa Elle Lace Knit first seen in Yohji Yamamoto's F/W15 collection. Adidas has spent years investing in creating these wild designs under the Y-3 banner for a premium consumer, it looks like they're finally ready to bring their futuristic vision to the masses under the now-established Tubular and ZX Flux umbrellas. For every Yeezy 350 owner, there's at least twenty disappointed Kanye fans who missed out and wants a suitable alternative. Is the Tubular Doom the consolation that they've all been waiting for?
