The name of the adidas Jeans trainer has caused plenty of confusion over the years. They aren’t denim pants, but an athletic-inspired lifestyle sneaker from 1979, a model marketed as a runner that could be worn in a casual setting to accompany the five-pocket denim dungaree that gave the shoe its name. Before the 1980s sneaker explosion and the current 'athleisure' craze that has made it socially acceptable to wear sneakers for (almost) every occasion, there was the Jeans blazing the trail for casual sneaker.
This latest version of the adidas Jeans takes use of the MkII silhouette, different from the original MkI by its addition of a toe and heel bumper. The latest iteration the Jeans comes to us in two vibrant suede colourways – ‘Collegiate Royal/Solar Red’ and ‘Green/Solar Orange’ – stacked on top of a distinctly 70s-coloured gum sole, and the result is a perfect representation of classic retro adidas design.
The adidas Jeans is available now at select adidas stockists, including End. Clothing.
