Kobe Bryant's time on the court might have come to an end, but his legacy in the sneaker world lives on. In honour of the Black Mamba's NBA departure, the 'Fade to Black' collection revived every Nike silhouette to sport the Kobe name – but the Lakers great didn't always rep the Swoosh. Kobe's career began in adidas and now the Three Stripes are getting in on the retro action. Following the revival of the KB8 and KB II as the Crazy 8 and Crazy 2 respectively, adidas are resurrecting another early Kobe Bryant silhouette from the archives – the KB8 III.
The bulbous KB8 III was the last Kobe signature model to be part of the Feet You Wear campaign, following a fallout between adidas and the support system’s creator Frampton Ellis. As we showcased in our feature on Kobe's most iconic sneaker moments, the KB8 III was also the very same model worn on his feet when he copped a mean right hook from the Knicks guard Chris Childs late in the 2000 season. The KB8 III is far from the most memorable adi silhouette to grace Bryant's feet, but its return will no doubt be welcomed by diehard Mamba fans.
The Crazy 3 will drop in both 'home' and 'away' Lakers make-ups,. We'll keep you posted when a release date emerges.
