A Converse One Star for Yung Lean’s Sad Boys

Jonatan Leandoer Håstad, better known as rapper Yung Lean, helms a fashion label called Sadboys Gear named after his closely-associated collective of the same name. The label has just revealed an upcoming collaboration with grunge styling.

The execution is a departure from typical One Stars, as they are commonly seen in suede. This version instead opts for canvas with a print resembling weathered silver paint. Matched to that is the eponymous star branding in a similarly shiny finish. An interesting detail is the white leather toecap that contrasts starkly against the busy upper. Additional subtleties like white ‘bookend’ eyelets, custom tongue branding, and a clear ice sole are nice touches.

The Sad Boys x Converse One Star releases on August 29 at retailers like SNS.
