With a new low-top Air Force 1 collaboration apparently on the way, the Samuel Ross—led A-COLD-WALL* and Nike have revealed a little something to tide fans over in the meantime: a co-branded take on an unexpected silhouette.
Ross has taken on the Zoom Vomero +5 of all things, revisiting the Swoosh's 2010 runner with an examination of how an object changes over time. Dressed in aged white and black colourways, the design has been reworked with the addition of a radical new heel counter to go with ACW's unmistakeable branding.
'With the Vomero, there has been this opportunity to really exalt the technology of its time and modernise the aesthetic, which is uncompromised to its purpose and function,' explains Ross. 'It's interesting to look at a shoe which has such a beautiful and polished wire frame, and then to be able to isolate individual aspects of that shoe, to really exalt the technology. It is very exciting to take something that is very beautiful and to not necessarily reinterpret but to reevaluate the product.'
Look for the kicks to debut in London on November 17 alongside a range of co-branded apparel. A global release is set to follow on November 29.
