Continuing the quest to unlock true athletic potential, Nike release their latest cross-training innovation, the Free Trainer 5.0. Nike footwear designer Laura Parrett explains that the idea of a flat woven upper, which can lock down under tension and free up when stable, came from a simple child's toy. "One of the unique inspirations we used in the beginning when we were designing the shoe was the Chinese finger trap," she said. Combining the flexible upper with the multi-directional diamond cut Free Trainer sole allows for truly supported all-round movement. "When you are going to make an explosive moment, when you are going to make a hard lateral cut, we want the shoe to lock down around your foot," says designer Jeff Rasmussen. The Nike Free Trainer 5.0 will be available globally March 28 at select retailers and Nike.com.
