Yank On the Converse Chuck Taylor All Star CX Pull TabRelease: 12 January 2021
After launching their certifiably comfy CX tech across the classic Chuck Taylor in 2020, Converse have added even more ergonomic updates to their centenarian kick. Known as the – take a deep breath – Chuck Taylor All Star CX Pull Tab, its suffix denotes the inclusion of some oversized ankle loops that make on-and-off even easier and breezier! With a palette tapping into the dizzying neons of heritage hiking, here’s a mix of form and function in a familiar package.
To date, there hasn’t been a low-key Chuck CX – and that continues to be the case here. CX midsole foam needs to be seen to be believed, so Converse have no reservations by highlighting the squishy stuff in lurid teal and noxious pink sandwiched inside translucent rubber carriers. The uppers here are complementarily contrasted with extremely bright shoelaces and ankle patches set against rocky grey and black CX stretch canvases. Check out that Low – it’s as if South Beach became South Bluff!
Crazy colourways and new tech aside, the star of the shoe show here is the XL pull tabs grafted onto the medial ankle counters with a didactic ‘PULL’ command printed onto the woven surface. Somewhere out there, Virgil sheds a single tear of joy…
